Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) yesterday approved the proposal of appointing consultants for development of competency-based training and quality assurance under Skills for Employment Investment Programme (SEIP) involving Taka 22.14 crore, reports BSS.
Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury chaired the meeting held at the cabinet division. "The proposal for the appointment of consultant has been approved . . . British Council and Dhaka Ahsania Mission will jointly provide the consultancy services," M Mustafizur Rahman,
additional secretary of Cabinet Division, told journalists after the meeting.
Under the consultancy services, SEIP will make a standard curriculum for providing the international standard training to the youth across the country, said SEIP Executive Project Director Abdur Rouf Talukder.
He said "We are providing training in six sectors like Readymade Garment (RMG), textile, shipbuilding, leather, construction and light engineering."
"We are trying to provide international standard and market-oriented training to our work force," he mentioned.
SEIP has already trained up about 72 thousand youths in 44 districts across the country while about 50,000 youth successfully completed the training, he said adding that "Out of the total certified youths, about 32,000 have got jobs."
The other proposals are: appointing consultants for "Study for Investigation of Groundwater and Surface Water Irrigation in Habiganj, Maulvibazar, Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona and Kishorganj districts" (Taka 12.96 crore), procurement for straightening the Indropul to Chakrasala under Dhaka-Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway
(Taka 62.85 crore) and consultancy service for Detailed Design and Supervision Of Cross Border Road Network Improvement Project (Bangladesh) (Taka 236.04 crore).
