RANGPUR: All preparations have been completed to celebrate the five-day Durga Puja, the greatest religious festival of the Hindu community, amid tight security measures with due religious fervor in the district, reports BSS.
Beginning from Friday, the festival will end on October 11 through celebration of the ‘Bijoya Dashami’ with immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga, official sources and leaders of district unit of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad (BPUP) said.
The Power Development Board and Rural Electrification Board have taken special measures to provide uninterrupted power supply to enable the Hindu devotees in offering their prayers, Puja, ‘archana’, ‘kirtons’ and other religious rituals.
The Puja mandaps are being decorated colourfully and the administrations, police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13), Ansar-VDP and other agencies have taken adequate steps to ensure peaceful celebration of the festival.
The artisans are passing their busiest time at these last hours to give finishing touches to idols of Goddess Durga with their artistic creativity and colours to make those more charming with eye-catching looks.
