JICA team calls on DU VC
A three-member delegation led by Mikio Hataeda, Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on Tuesday called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique at his latter's office on the campus in the capital.
The other members of the delegation were Hicoshi Ara and Yuji Wakasugi, said a DU press release.
During the meeting they discussed about the possibilities of introducing "Bangladesh-Japan Interdisciplinary Institute" at Dhaka University with the financial assistance from JICA.
They also discussed about the possibilities of launching joint Masters and PhD programmes between Dhaka University and Kyushu University, Japan.
Chairman of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology department Prof Dr Sharif Akteruzzaman, Prof of Electrical and Electronics Engineering department, Dr Subrata Kumar Aditya, Chairman of the Mathematics department, Prof Dr Amulya Chandra Mandal and some other faculties attended the meeting, among others, the release added.
USA professor calls on DU VC
Dr EM Pannah, a cyber security expert also Professor of the University of Maryland, USA called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique at his latter's office on the campus on Tuesday.
During the meeting, they discussed about the possibilities of development of academic programmes on cyber security at Dhaka University, a DU press release said.
They also discussed for introducing a short course on cyber security at DU Computer Science and Engineering department while they also agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard soon.
Professor of DU Computer Science and Engineering department Dr Md Hasanuzzaman joined the meeting, among others, the release added.
334 students get stipend
Bangladesh Air Force Women's Welfare Association (BAFWWA) handed over stipend to 334 meritorious students for their outstanding performance in SSC, HSC, 'O' and 'A' level examinations this year.
BAFWWA President Tasneem Esrar handed over the cheques of stipend among the brilliant students as the chief guest at Falcon Hall in the city's Tejgaon area, an ISPR release said on Tuesday. A total of 135 students for achieving golden GPA-5 in SSC and HSC examinations, 197 for achieving general GPA-5 in SSC and HSC examinations and two students for achieving 'A' grade in at least six subjects of 'O' level examination got the stipend from BAFWWA. Vice-Presidents of Central BAFWWA, Spouses of senior BAF officers, Directors of Air Headquarters, Principals of BAF Shaheen School and Colleges and guardians of stipend recipients were present on the occasion.
