100 public toilets within 2017

WaterAid Bangladesh in association with Dhaka South City Corporation has launched another public toilet at Bahadur Shah Park funded by HM Foundation, reports BSS.
Mohammad Sayeed Khokon, Mayor, Dhaka South City Corporation, inaugurated this modern sanitation facility today, said a release.
This female and disable friendly public toilet at this historically significant location of the capital is expected to offer visitors with comfort and convenience.
This modern toilet equipped with facilities including separate chamber for male and female, locker, hand washing point, shower, safe drinking water facility, 24x7 electricity, CCTV camera, professional cleaner and female caretakers.
Sayeed Khokon said, We will develop a planned public sanitation system in capital for all inhabitants of Dhaka especially for pedestrians, commuters and women, especially for those who pass a long time in citys streets due to heavy traffic.
For this we will open 100 public toilets within 2017. Construction work of another 47 public toilets is almost at the end. Renovation work of 17 toilets is underway. Among these 40 toilets are being established with the support of WaterAid, he added.
Khokon hope No unusable public toilet will remain in the city after 2017.
This is in continuation of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed among Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka North City Corporation, Dhaka WASA and WaterAid Bangladesh to ensure environmental health by proper use of public toilets.
