The ICT Division and Center for Research and Information (CRI) yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for imparting training to 2001 digital labs set up by Sheikh Russel Computer and Language Lab (SRCLL) in schools and colleges across the country, reports BSS. According to the MoU, the Young Bangla, a youth platform of the CRI, will oversee ICT training and supervise, monitor and maintain the overall activities till 2018, according to an official release.
Under the agreement, for each lab, two coordinators and ten volunteers will be responsible for the overall arrangement and offering of training among the students, the release said. Selection of the volunteers and coordinators will be made from the list of volunteers registered with Young Bangla and awardees who received Joy Bangla Youth award, a signature campaign under the YB platform.
The signing took place at the office of the ICT Division with State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Sabbir Bin Shams, Executive Director, CRI and ASM Shafiul Alam Talukder, Project Director (acting) of SRCLL attending the event.
“This scheme will enable our students at schools and colleges acquiring an understanding on ICT knowledge, given that without this, attaining Vision-2021 will not be possible”, expressed Sabbir Bin Shams, ED, CRI.
“Moreover, we would work hand in hand with the concerned authorities both at schools and colleges to train up the young students,” he added. Launched in 2015, YB has activated a number of schemes to identify, recognize, showcase the youths and change-makers and also build a linkage between the policymakers and youths. It also launched the Vision-2021 internship scheme under which youths, for the first time, getting the opportunity to pursue an internship with different government ministries. In addition, another agreement with software giant Microsoft Bangladesh was signed, offering youths to pursue internship at Microsoft and trainers from Microsoft are also touring the country to offer soft skills development training among the rural youths.
