Stocks open week down as major sectors dip

Stock markets opened week down as major sectors closing the session with falling trend at both the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges yesterday, reports BSS.
Among the falling major sectors were finance and textile when 117 securities of the large-cap group incurred loss due to lower activities. Insurance sector, however, advanced marginally at the day's closing.
The broader DSEX index of DSE finished the first session of the week 4.26 points down at 4690.93. 
The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 followed it by 2.41 points down at 1123.46 and 2.19 points down at 1776.52 respectively.
The daily turnover in value at DSE was Tk 531.24 crore when the volume traded shares was 18.83 crore.
Among the traded 322 issues at DSE, 137 closed higher against 139 losing issues. At CSE, 109 issues lost when 107 finished the day higher.
The top five gaining companies were Paramount Textile, Continental Insurance, Prime Insurance, Union Capital and Northern Insurance. The major losers included Shyampur Sugar Mills Limited, National Housing Finance and Investment Limited, Simtex Industries Limited, DBH and GSP Finance.
MJLBD topped the turnover list followed by Bangladesh Sub Marin Cables, Paramount Textile, Bangladesh Building, Lanka Bangla Finance and Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
The price indices of Dhaka Stock Exchange reached the highest position in over eleven months on Thursday, closing session of the week, with higher transactions. DSEX-the broader index of DSE - gained 4.56 points to finish the day at 4695.19, which was the highest after October 15, 2015. 
The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES were slightly 0.70 points down at 1778.70 and 0.24 points down at 1125.86 on the day.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also finished on Thursday significantly up, with its general CASPI gaining 39.40 points to close at 14,429.44.
