Sports Reporter

Barisal Division compiled 301 for six against Dhaka Metropolis on the close of the Day-1 in the second round of the Tier-1 match in the Walton National Cricket League at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna yesterday.

At the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, defending champions Khulna Division scored 172 for one in the first innings against Dhaka Division in another match of Tier-1.
In Tier-2 match, Rajshahi Division bowled out Chittagong Division for paltry 141 at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
At the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Rangpur Division put on 191 for seven against Sylhet Division in another match of Tier-2.
Dhaka Metro vs Barisal
Barisal Division elected to bat first after winning the toss and lost their opener Nuruzzaman to put on 31 runs on the board. Thereafter, Mohammad Ashraful, who returned to domestic cricket after three and a half years following the lift  of domestic suspension for spot and match fixing in BPL through the suspension of international cricket on him still remained, did not get chance to bat or bowl in the first round, made double strikes and sent back Fazle Mahmud and Shahriar Nafees while Barisal were stuttering on 72 for three. Nafees fell two runs short of his fifty.
Together with Salman Hossain (29) and Sohag Gazi, Abu Sayeem made a resistance with the help of a couple of successful partnerships. Sayeem hit 51-run with Salman for the fourth wicket and 139–run with Gazi for the fifth wicket stand, which surpassed the 250-run mark.
But Sayeem unfortunately missed his century just for two runs. Before being trapped lbw by Abu Haider Rony, the right-handed batsman struck 165-ball 98 that was laced with 12 fours and one six.
Ashraful later got rid of wicket-keeper Shahin Hossain for six. Sohag Gazi remained at stumps on 87. Monir Hossain was on 12 not out.
Off-spinner Mohammad Ashraful for Dhaka Metro picked up three wickets for 49, while Arafat Sunny snapped up two for 99.
