PSTU admission tests Dec 2
PATUAKHALI: The admission tests for the first year honours courses of Patuakhali Science and Technology University’s (PSTU) for 2016-2017 session will be held on December 2.
The application has to be submitted within 4 pm in November 20.
Md Mahfujur Rahman Sabuj, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Media Department of PSTU, confirmed the matter. The detailed information regarding admission tests is available on the university website (www.pstu.ac.bd/admission). It is mentionable that students will be able to apply against 657 seats under 8 faculties.
Seminar on BAI held at JU
SAVAR: A seminar on 'Biotechnology in Academia and Industry' was held at seminar room of Jahir Raihan auditorium on Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus on Saturday.
JU Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (BGE) Department organised the event in association with Inspire Project of British Council. Vice-Chancellor of the university Farzana Islam addressed the function as the chief guest with chairman of BGE Department Mohammad Shahedur Rahman in the chair. JU Treasurer Abul Khair and Dean of Biological Sciences Faculty Abdul Zabber Hawlader addressed the function as special guests, among others.
JU Chemistry dept holds freshers reception
The Chemistry department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) organised a freshers reception of 45th batch and a farewell ceremony of 40th batch at chemistry gallery room on Saturday.
The former chairman of the department (retd) Mahmuda Gani Ahmed attended the programme as chief guest while head of the department Manjurul Karim was in the chair.
Conducted by the president of JU Chemistry Association (JUCA) Prof Mamun Hossen, Prof Elias Mollah, Nurul Afser, Prof Mahbub Kabir spoke among others at the programme. The speakers said the students have to build themselves as a good citizen for the country while the departing students must be careful about their duties involving themselves in different jobs.In the programme, the department also awarded scholarship to the students who did well in previous academic exams. The programme ended with pleasant cultural events participated by the students of the department.
Two RU students awarded
RAJSHAHI: Two students of Department of Statistics in Rajshahi University (RU) received Khandaker Monwar Hossain Memorial Award as recognition of their brilliant result yesterday.
Every year, a student, who clinches the top position in graduation (honours), and another female student, who bags the first position among females, got the award. Mira Rani Devnath and Fahima Farhana Anni obtained the award respectively. The department organised the award distribution function at the seminar room with its chairman Prof Riptar Hossain in the chair. Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan distributed the award as the chief guest saying recognition of talents is very important to inspire flourishing more other latent talents.
‘Steps to prevent question leakage in MBBS admission tests’
RANGPUR: Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu has said adequate steps would be taken to prevent leakage of question papers during the upcoming medical college (MBBS) admission tests.
"Admission tests for the MBBS courses for the 2016-2017 academic sessions would be held in a transparent manner at any cost here," Jhantu said while addressing a views-sharing meeting at Rangpur Medical College (RMC) hall room on Wednesday as chief guest. The RMC authority organised the meeting to discuss the law and order situation and other related issues for holding the upcoming medical college admission tests in the city in a free, fair and transparent manner.
With RMC Principal Professor Dr Animesh Majumder in the chair, Rangpur Divisional Director (Health) Dr Mozammel Hossain attended the meeting as special guest.
