Nat’l Productivity Day observed
National Productivity Organisation (NPO) yesterday brought out a colorful rally in the city on the occasion of National Productivity Day. 
The rally was brought out from Osmani Memorial Auditorium gate and ended at the Jatiya Press Club, an official release said. 
Additional Secretary of Industries Ministry Sushen Chandra Das, led the rally, which was attended by additional secretary Dabirul Islam, Chairman of  Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industry Corporation AKM Delwar Hossain, officials and employees of different government and non-government organizations, among others. 
After the rally, Sushen Chandra said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina  declared productivity as "National Movement" aiming to improve living  standard of the people through enhancing productivity. The aim of this movement is to build a middle-income country by 2021 increasing productivity  in all sectors including industry and agriculture, he added.

Lightning strike kills 2 in Sylhet
Two people were killed in a lightning strike in front MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet city on Sunday morning.
One the deceased was identified as Abdul Mukit. Witnesses said the thunderbolt stuck them as they were standing in front of the emergency unit of the hospital around 8.30am, leaving Mukit dead on the spot and another unidentified man injured. The injured was admitted to the hospital where doctor declared him dead.

Road mishap kills SI in Rajshahi
A Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police was killed when a truck dashed him in Kasiadanga area on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj Highway under Rajpara Police Station in Rajshahi city yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Ajahar Ali, 42, who was posted in Rajshahi Reserve Force (RRF) line, met the tragic accident at around 9.45 am while he was walking beside the road, police sources said.
People rushed him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Son of late Wahab Ali, Ajahar Ali was hailed from Dhansipara village under Bagmara upazila of the district.
Senior Assistant Commissioner of RMP Ifte Khayer Alam told BSS that the truck was seized but its driver managed to escape after the incident. A case was filed with Rajpara Police Station.

Anti-militancy rally held
The common people from all walks in life become united to resist corruption, terrorism, militancy, anarchy and conspiracies against the country to accelerate the pace of national development.
The views were expressed at a human chain organised by 'Muktir Sangram Samajik Sangathan (MSSS)' and local people against corruption, militancy, terrorism and anarchy at Buriurhat High School in Rangpur on Saturday afternoon. 

Speakers for caring older citizens properly
Speakers at a discussion in Rangpur yesterday called for standing beside the older citizens and learning from their experience to build a better society.
They were addressing a discussion arranged by 'Bangladesh Probin Hitoishi Sangha' at District Muktijoddha Complex auditorium yesterday marking the International Day of Older Persons-2016. President of district unit of 'Bangladesh Probin Hitoishi Sangha' and President of district unit of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad Alhaj Mosaddek Hossain Bablu presided over the function. Deputy Commissioner Md Rahat Anwar addressed it as the chief guest.
