GAIBANDHA: District administration has taken an initiative to make Gaibandha district free from early marriage by December next through active participation of all concerned, reports BSS. According to sources, the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared that Bangladesh would be an early marriage free country by 2021. In line with the announcement of the government, the district administration led by Deputy Commissioner M Abdus Samad took the initiative to make Gaibandha early marriage free by December.
To end this, the district administration is conducting publicity campaign in all the seven upazilas of the district through holding meeting, and distributing leaflets regarding checking early and child marriage to the people. In this context, mayors of the municipalities and the chairmen of union parishads were urged to provide birth registration certificates carefully so that none could resort to forgery in issuing the certificates, said an official of the district administration.
