Human chain for safe road

Nirapod Sarak Chai (NSC), an organisation working for safe road, today formed a human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club yesterday urging authorities concerned to take effective steps for preventing street accidents, reports BSS.

"Despite the number of road mishap has come down significantly on the roads and highways across the country, the nation witnessed increased causalities during recent Eid festivals," Actor Ilias Kanchan, chairman of NSC (We Demand Safe Road), told yesterday.
About the causalities followed by the road crashes, he quoted the report of a monitoring team as saying, "As many as 140 street accidents took place during the Eid festivals killing at least 205 people and injuring about 205 others." The film actor expressed grave concern over the 'reluctance' of the country's political leaders to the street accidents terming it's a disaster.
