The first round matches of the Tier-1 and Tier-2 of the Walton National Cricket League (NCL) at four different grounds across the country ended in draws yesterday.

Only Rangpur Division and Chittagong Division match among the four matches had chances of producing a result but finally it has not been done. It was Rangpur Division, who had chances to win the match against Chittagong Division at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The team created it after skittling Chittagong out for 251 in second innings following their first innings total of 368. Rangpur got a target of 264 to win but they finished the day to put up 224 for five on the board. Mahmudul Hasan and Ariful Haque struck half-centuries for the team. Hasan of course remained at stumps on 85. Chittagong pacer Yasir Arafat Mishu was named man of the match.
Mohammad Ashraful, who returns to domestic cricket after three and a half years, finally did not get opportunity to bat for Dhaka Metro as the final day’s match also was called off  unplayable condition of the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra due to rain.   Resuming the fourth and final day on 122 for two, Barisal Division finished the day to add just 126 runs at the expense of six wickets in their second innings at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium.
