64 vehicles seized, 701 cases filed in Ctg

CHITTAGONG: Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) in the last 24 hours filed 701 cases against different types of vehicles including CNG-run auto-rickshaws for violating the metropolitan rules in the city, reports BSS.
Besides, police also seized 64 vehicles including 11 CNG-run auto-rickshaws during the drives, police said.
A total of 215 cases were filed on Wednesday against the CNG-run auto-rickshaw for running on the streets without documents, the sources said. Mohammad Shahid Ullah, Deputy Director of BRTA told BSS that the move will continue against the meter and document-less taxies as well as the vehicles without registration.
The combined teams of BRTA and police are on the road to take action against taxies which are run in the port city without registration, he added. CMP will also file more cases, if any driver or owner of the CNG-run auto-rickshaws is found violating the rule of installing meters in his respective taxies, he added.
CMP and BRTA sources said the three-wheeler CNGs and some private cars owners and drivers are grossly violating the directives of CMP.
