MYMENSINGH: Speakers at a women gathering emphasised on the role of mothers and the need for building awareness in stopping child marriage as it is a hindrance to the peace and prosperity of the society, reports BSS.
District Information Office organised the gathering at Birrampur Charpara Government Primary School in Trishal upazila under the project titled “Communication Programme on Development of Women and Children” under the Ministry of Information yesterday.
Trishal Upazila Primary Education Officer Syed Ahmed presided over the function. District Information Officer Mukhlesur Rahman and Assistant Information Officer Tahlima Zannat, among others, spoke.
Speakers called upon the mothers to become aware about taking special care of their children about their health and nutrition shortage.
Referring to the recent killings and attacks by the militants, speakers urged the mothers to be alert and take the responsibilities of keeping eye on their children.
A good number of mothers took part in the gathering and expressed their willingness to play due role and motivate the mothers in stopping child marriage in their respective areas.
