Bangladesh team, who have almost confirmed a semifinal berth, will face Oman in their second match of the Beximco U-18 Asian Hockey today at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium.
In fact the home team reserved the last four berth in their very first match when they stunned group favourites India 5-4. Bangladesh team’s manager Kawser Ali, when talking to this correspondent yesterday said that they were thinking about the semifinal match, as their place in the last fours have already been booked.
“In fact our semifinal place is 90 percent confirmed, if Oman want to eliminate us then they would have to defeat us at least by a big margin and I think it’s an impossible task for Oman team,” Kawser said.
About the match against Oman, Kawser Ali said, “Actually we should not take them lightly although it seemed that Omani team are not that superior. But we have to play our normal game to rule any upset hopes. We will field our full strength team and the boys are confident to give their best.”
