Workshop on maternal and child nutrition
The Department of Public Health of American International University- Bangladesh (AIUB) organised a daylong workshop on Maternal and Child Nutrition on Friday, says a press release.
The aim of this programme was to bring health care professionals such as doctors, nurses, nutritionists and others under an umbrella to acquire and disseminate knowledge on maternal and child nutrition.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Charles C Villanueva inaugurated the programme while Tofazzal Hossian (Vice President, Academics), Tazul Islam (Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) and MPH Faculty Md Aurangzeb were also present.
The keynote speaker of the workshop was Dr Zeba Mahmud, Country Manager, Alive and Thrive, Bangladesh. Dr. Salahuddin Ahmed, director research, Johns Hopkins University Bangladesh was the co-speaker of the programme. The day long programme ended with the prize distribution ceremony.
NSU sports and fitness centre opens
The Sports and Fitness Centre at North South University (NSU) opened at a ceremony recently, says a press release.
Professor Atiqul Islam, vice-chancellor of North South University, inaugurated the centre. NSU VC said the university emphasizes sports and cultural activities for its students since beginning.
They took the initiative to help the young people in terms of developing healthy habits for life
There are six trained fitness associates and fitness supervisors to ensure the safety of participants and assist in basic exercise.
This center is well equipped for fitness in Aerobics/cardiac Gym and power gym. There is also an indoor basket ball court with a capacity of large number of students.
Azim Uddin Ahmed, chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU, Mushtaque Habib, project director, were also present.
