The Custom Intelligence and Investigation Department Authority has seized a total of 10 gold bars weighing 3 kilograms from a waste-bin in the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka yesterday morning, reports BSS.
The seized gold bars were wrapped up with tissues and scotch tape and the estimated market price of the seized gold is about Taka 1.50 crore.
Acting on a tip-off, the officials of the Custom Intelligence department took position at different important places of the airport since 5am on Monday and recovered the gold bars from inside a waste-bin adjacent to the toilet at the immigration of the airport at around 6am, said Dr Mainul Khan, Director General (DG) of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department. Sensing the presence of the custom officials, the gold smugglers left the place quickly after keeping the gold bars inside the waste-bin beside the immigration toilet, said the DG.
