Two killed in truck plunge

Bandarban: Two people were killed as a truck plunged into a roadside ditch in Raisa army camp area in Sadar upazila yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased were identified as truck driver M Yunus, 52, a resident of Lohagara upazila of Chittagong district, and Shamsul Islam, 55, of Chokoria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district. Assistant director of Bandarban Fire Service and Civil Defense Abdus Sattar Mandal said the accident took place around 3pm when the Chittagong-bound wood-laden truck skidded off the road and fell into the roadside ditch after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the duo injured. The injured were rushed to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared them dead.
