The Government has imposed certain restrictions on remaining at the Secretariat after office hours, a letter issued the home ministry said yesterday. The letter has been sent to all ministries and divisions requesting them to take steps in this regard. One who wants to stay in the interests of work after the office hours should inform the home ministry, its joint secretary Shahed Ali said. The decision was taken in the interest of ensuring security, he added.
Shahed Ali, joint secretary of the home ministry’s security section-2, who sent the letter, said sometimes officials work after office hours on urgent matters in the Secretariat, which is the hub of administration. But certain employees also stay at night in the Secretariat without permission, which is not desirable. So, being a sensitive and restricted area, none should be allowed to stay there at night without prior permission, except the law enforcers. It is something that has to be ensured, the official noted.
