Militant Rigan on 6-day remand
Islami Chattra Shibir leader Rakibul Hasan Rigan, who was caught wounded during the law enforcers raid in Kalyanpur of the capital on July 26, was placed on a six-day remand in connection with the Gulshan caf attack case. Rigan was shown arrested on September 21 in the Gulshan attack case after his involvement with the incident was found. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Golam Nobi passed the order after a hearing yesterday.
Earlier, Inspector Humayun Kabir of the Counter Terrorism and Trans-national Crime unit, also the investigation officer of the case, produced Rigan before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.
Rigan, a leader of Jamaat-e-Islamis student body Islami Chhatra Shibir, along with several other militants received training on firearms, including on AK-22 rifles, when they were staying in militant dens in the capital over the course of a year, said police. On the night of July 1, five militants attacked Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan and took the diners hostage. In all, 29 people were killed20 hostages, 18 of them foreigners, two police officers, the five attackers and one bakery staff.
