The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested people from Naogaon, Sylhet and Bagerhat in separate graft cases, reports UNB.
A team of ACC’s Khulna zila office, led by its assistant director Shamim Iqbal, arrested office super of Naogaon Customs Office SM Jahangir Alam, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya told UNB.
On April 30, 2015, the ACC filed a case against him with Abhaynagar Police Station of Jessore for allegedly accumulating illegal wealth.
According to the case statement, the ACC found that Jahangir acquired illegal wealth worth Tk 1.5 crore. He also concealed wealth worth about Tk 1.3 crore during an inquiry by the Commission.
Meanwhile, ACC on Saturday night arrested a civil surgeon and a banker from Sylhet and Bagerhat in separate graft cases.
A team of ACC’s Kushtia office, led by its deputy director Abdul Gaffar, detained suspended civil surgeon of Chuadanga Nazmul Haque from Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya told UNB.
On December 12, 2014, the ACC filed a case against him and others with Chuadanga Police Station for allegedly misappropriating government medicine worth Tk23 lakh.
Besides, an ACC team led by assistant director Wajed Ali Gazi of its Khulna district office arrested cash officer of Sonali Bank’s Bagerhat branch Jahangir Hossain in Tk 4.5 swindling case filed in October, 2015.
