Kali O Kalam remembers litterateur AZM Abdul Ali

Kali O Kalam- a monthly magazine,  organised a commemorative programme on Friday at the capital’s National Museum, in memory of litterateur and columnist AZM Abdul Ali, who was a former Deputy General Manager of railway and member of Kali O Kalam.
Presided over by Professor Emiratus Anisuzzaman, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith attended the programme as chief guest. Anchored by Director General of Bengal Foundation Luva Nahid Chowdhury, Editor of Kali O Kalam Abul Hasnat delivered the welcome speech at the event. They observed a one-minute silence as a mark of respect to the memories of litterateur AZM Abdul Ali. Then they discussed about his life and works.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith in his speech said, “Rather than mourning the death of AZM Abdul Ali, we should be more proud of the success he achieved in his lifetime.”  Abul Maal Abdul Muhith also praised AZM Abdul Ali’s devotion towards always acquiring knowledge and said that his scholarships in both English and Bengali language is praiseworthy. He also praised AZM Abdul Ali’s talent for singing Rabindra Sangeet.
Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, who is the niece of late AZM Abdul Ali, said “My uncle was very passionate about music. However, he never had the desire to perform music in public. Even though he was extremely talented, he never sang for any radio and television. My uncle had many great qualities.”
She also added that her aunt played a pivotal role towards her uncle’s life. She said that up until his death, her aunt took incomparable care of him.
Later she rendered a song ‘Mone Ki Dhidha Rekhe Chole Gele’ to pay tribute to his late  uncle.
The discussion session was also attended by Dhaka University Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Associate editor of Prothom Alo Sohrab Hasan and president of Jadio Kabita Parishad professor Muhammad Samad, among others.
In the cultural part, Aditi Mohsin rendered ‘Aponare Diye Rochilire Kiye’, ‘Amar Hiyar Majhe’ and ‘Shudhu Tomar Banee’, while Shyama Rahman rendered ‘Aj Jemon Kore Gaiche Akash’, ‘Skorun Benu Bajay Ke Jay’ and ‘Aji Bijon Ghore’. After that, Bulubul Islam rendered songs ‘Tomay Gaan Sonabo’, Bhuboneswar He’ and ‘Pother Sesh Kothay’. The programme came to an end with the rendition of Iffat Ara Dewan.
