Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif yesterday said Bangladesh has been able to tackle terrorism and militancy efficiently, reports UNB.
“Today, militancy is a global problem. The people of world are being affected by the activities of various terrorist and militant organisations,” he said.
The ruling party leader was addressing a joint meeting of Awami League Dhaka South city unit at Razmoni Ishakha hotel in the capital.
Hanif said, “You see terrorist attacks are being taken place in the USA and the US government is facing trouble in checking those attacks. Not only in the USA, terrorists attacks are being carried out in France, Germany, Canada and other countries.”
“But Bangladesh with its limited technological advantages has been able to face terrorism and militancy efficiently,” he said.
After the attacks at Holey Artisan restaurant, Sholakia and on foreign nationals, many people said that Bangladesh wouldn’t be able to free from militancy and terrorism but within two months Sheikh Hasina showed the world how to tackle militancy, said Hanif.
Awami League Agriculture and Co-Operative Affairs Secretary Abdur Razzak, Information and Research Affairs Secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain and Awami League Dhaka South city general secretary Shahe Alam Murad, among others, spoke on the occasion.
