Afghanistan ODI captain Asghar Stanikzai said that they want to replicate the success against Bangladesh what they did in the Asia Cup two years back.
“Everybody is coming here for a win. We will try our best against the full member nations,” said Asaghar Stanikzai.
“We will get a lot of experience playing against them, and we want to play a lot of matches against these full member nations,” Stanikzai said through team manager Abu Walid, who translates in English from Pashto.
Recalling that Asia Cup match, the pace all-rounder said that this time they have matured enough by playing a good number of matches and tri-nation series against full member nations beside their regular games against the associates.
“Two years ago we remember that we beat Bangladesh. Henceforth, our team has played more crickets against Test-playing nations,” Stanikzai told media men at the pre-series press conference at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“We were less experienced back then but now we have also played World Cup and the Asia Cup. I hope my team will play better than last time,” the batsman-cum-seamer, who top-scored (90 not out) in the surprising match of Asia Cup against Bangladesh in 2014.
There are eight players of that match in the current squad but this time he will lead the team, is the blend of the experienced senior and talented younger players, who hailed from U-19 team.
“Shahzad is a very good player but each player of the team is also good. They all are performing well. This time we all will try our best to do well against Bangladesh,” the 28-year-old, who told this through team manger.
