Confce of BSA begins at Bangladesh Agricultural University
MYMENSINGH: A two-day long conference of Bangladesh Society of Agronomy (BSA) began at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh yesterday.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was present as chief guest in the event.
The minister in his speech underscored the need for introducing the new technologies and learning the use of these for the sustainable development of the country.
He also prompted that not only quantity but also the quality of education should be increased in a way that they would be capacitated to solve the problems of the country. The youths are also monitored by the parents and teachers for preventing the misuse of their knowledge, he added.
BAU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md, Ali Akbar was present as the chief patron in the event with Ex-VC of Noakhali Science and Technology University Prof Saidur Haque, director general of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) Dr Md Rafiqul Islam Mondal and director general of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Md Hamidur Rahman as special guests. Prof Dr Md Abdul Kader and Dr Moin-us-Salam presented the keynote presentation on “Ageonomy and Livelihood: Vision 2050 and Beyond for Bangladesh”, the theme of the conference. Mike Robson, Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) representative in Bangladesh, in his visionary speech said, the agronomists should look forward to set the new research agenda to improve the production by understanding the total food system in the country.
IBS calls for research papers at RU
RAJSHAHI: The Institute of Bangladesh Studies (IBS) of Rajshahi University (RU) invited to submit research article for publication in its yearly IBS Journal. The article may be written either in English or Bangla.
IBS Journal is an International Journal and it ahs been publishes high-quality articles based on the history, geography, economics, politics, sociology, law, language, literature, and culture of Bangladesh.
This Journal has been publishing in December each year in Bengali and English medium. The article should not be exceed 6000 words, and also follow MLA, Chicago or APA style of referencing Footnotes/Endnotes/Bibliography. Besides, two copies of the computer composed manuscript (along with) on one side of standard A4 size sheets should be submitted to the Editor of the Journal. And also a soft copy to be sent by December this year through email at the address of [email protected].
Workshop on self assessment programme held at Gono Bishwabidyalay
Computer Science & Engineering Department of Gono Bishwabidyalay organised a day-long workshop on “Inception Workshop on Self Assessment Programme, says a press release.
The workshop was held yesterday at the IQAC conference hall under the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university.
The programme started with the welcome address by Prof Dr Nurul Alam Khan, head of Computer Science & Engineering Department. The IQAC Director of Gono Bishwabidyalay and head of Microbiology Department Prof Dr Md. Mostafizer Rahman presented the keynote paper while Prof Dr Md. Delwar Hossain, Vice-chancellor (Acting), Md Delower Hossain, Registrar were present as chief and special guest respectively. Md Mostafizer Rahman, the IQAC Director of Gono Bishwabidyalay.
The workshop was attended by 50 faculty members, alumni, present students along with high officials.
Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has been established at Gono Bishwabidalay under the auspices of Higher Education Quality Enhancement project (HEQP) financed by the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh and the World Bank and implemented by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
