Probe committee starts work

One more body was recovered from the River Sandhya in Nalasrre area of the city yesterday noon. They launch ‘Oishy Plus’ was sank in river at Banaripara on Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Zakir Hosen, businessman of Banaripara Bandar area. UNO of Banaripara Md. Shahidul Islam acknowledged the facts said the body will be handed over to the relatives. According the list of Banaripara police control room, the death toll rose to 26 now. Of them 10 were females, 9 males and 7 children.
The UNO said Tk.10, 000 were handed over to each of the 13 victims’ relatives yesterday. Others victims also will receive the money announced by the district administration as soon as possible.
On the other hand, Md. Zakir Hosen, ADM and chief of the probe committee formed by Barisal district administration started its job from yesterday. He met with the local people in Dasher Hat area (the place of accident) and took the statement of witnesses. Banaripara police raided the house of the accused in case Yusuf Haoladar, owner and Nayon, driver of the launch Friday night but failed to arrest them.
Police lodged a case on Friday against owner and driver of launch ‘Oishy Plus’ alleging of killing passengers by operating illegally and capsizing the launch on Sandhya River Wednesday noon. 
At least 26 people, including three women and a child, were killed and 40 others went missing after a launch capsized in the Shandhya river in Banaripara upazila of Barisal yesterday.
Mentionable ‘Oishy Plus’ illegally plying Banaripara-Habibpur without route permit and capsized on Sandhya River Wednesday noon with about 40 passengers on board.
