RANGPUR: State Minister for Social Welfare and freedom fighter Nuruzzaman Ahmed said militancy and terrorism can not obstruct the development process in the country, reports BSS.
“Islam is the religion of peace. Islam works for establishing peace and ensuring welfare of the humanity,” he said while addressing an anti-militancy rally after inaugurating renovation works of a mosque at Bhotmari under Kaliganj upazila in Lalmonirhat yesterday as chief guest.
With social worker Mostafizur Rahman in the chair, Bhotmari union council Chairman Ahadul Chowdhury, President of Bhotmari union unit Awami League Golzar Hossain Basunia and Superintendent of Karimpur Madrasah Moulana Abdul Mannan, addressed the rally as special guests.
The state minister said there would be no place in Bangladesh for those playing with Islam as part of the domestic-foreign conspiracies to destabilise the country and defame Islam, the religion of peace.
“The common people irrespective of caste, creed, religion and professions have stood around to decisively root out terrorism and militancy for further speeding up national uplift under leadership of Prime Minsiter Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
He said the anti-liberation forces chose the path of fire-terrorism when law enforcement agencies in association with the pious, peace-loving and non-communal people foiled their heinous activities aimed at obstructing developments.
“The conspirators have started hatching conspiracies anew through conducting militant attacks to make Bangladesh a failed state when the country advances fast as a global role model for development,” he said.
He called upon the common people, Imams, Olama-Mashaekhs and religious leaders at the upazila, union and wards level for reaching the real meaning of Islam among the people to build a Bangladesh free from militancy and militants.
