Employees on indefinite
work abstention

A section of the officials and employees of the government’s ‘Ekti Bari, Ekti Khamar (EBEK)’ project has announced work abstention programme for indefinite period from Thursday 9Today) to realise their demands including recruiting them permanently in the Palli Sanchay Bank.

The announcement came from a press conference of Field Assistant Welfare Council (FAWC) held at Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB) hall room in the city yesterday.
Dhaka Divisional Vice President of FAWC Kamruzzaman Tapas read out the written statement of the council, one of the organisation of the agitating officials and employees of EBEK project, while its Divisional President Selimuzzaman and leader Emdad Hossain attended during press briefing.
The EBEK project under the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division (RDCD) has turned into Palli Sanchay Bank (PSB) from last July after expiring the duration of the project in June 30 last. The PSB Act was passed in last 2014.
Blaming PSB Chairman Mihir Kanti Majumder for dilemma in recruiting the ended project employees in the bank, Tapas said that the former secretary is playing with the life of the officials and employees without recruiting them in the bank as per the PSB Act.
As a result, the carrier of around 7,000 officials and employees could be spoiled.
He also warned not to exclude any one of the project employees in the name of securitisation. The ended project officials and employees continued their agitation programme for third consecutive days in Dhaka. They also hold protest rally in front of National Press Club.
