The National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas and Mineral Resources, Power and Port yesterday once again demanded to cancel the Rampal coal-fired power plant project after taking into the cognizance of UNESCO report, scientific explanation as well as the public demand.
In a press release, the committee said that the members of the committee held an emergency meeting at its central office at Paltan where all aspect of Rampal power plan have been discussed.
Taking part in the discussion, professor Anu Mohammad said that if the government will not leave the project under the company then it would not take such suicidal decision as the UNESCO report and the scientific explanation did not support to build the Rampal project in the Sandarbhans area.
