The price indices of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) reached the highest position in eight months yesterday though the daily transaction declined marginally, reports BSS.
DSEX-the broader index of DSE - gained 12.95 points to finish the day at 4639.13, which was the highest after January 26.
The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the broader index to close in the positive territory.
At the close of the session, the DS30 was 6.67 points higher at 1770.35 and the Shariah DSES was 6.30 points up at 1116.11.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) finished Tuesday significantly up, with its general CASPI gaining 49.98 points to close at 14,268.09. At DSE, out of the day's 321
traded issues, 155 closed higher against 116 losing scrips.
At CSE, 246 issues traded while 129 closed higher against 80 closed lower.
The trade value on DSE down by o.78 per cent to Tk 536.06 crore and the volume dropped by 9.84 per cent to 13.24 crore shares. The CSE also saw lower activities when 87.86 lakh shares changed hands for Tk 29.53 crore. Banking stocks saw profit-booking trading when fuel and power, engineering, cement, textile and telecom sectors closed up, cement.
The top five gaining securities were Renwick Ja, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Singer BD, Saif Power and Appollo Ispat.
The major losing companies included Modern Dying, Standard Insurance, Rahima Food, Zeal Bangla Sugar and Peoples Insurance. Square Pharma topped the turnover eaders followed by Acme Lab, Singer BD, SPCL and BSC.
