NCL in four venues from Sept 25

Sports Reporter

A total of four venues are fixed to host the National Cricket League (NCL) matches, starting from September 25. A meeting was held in this connection yesterday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

“The matter of discussion was to fix the venues and how the wicket will be for the NCL matches,” said Saiful Islam Chowdhury Swapan, the chairman of BCB tournament committee. “We’ll try to prepare a bouncy wicket so that the players get the opportunity to acclimatize in this sort of wicket.”
Bangladesh will play most of their matches in away in 2017 which makes imperative to make bouncy pitch. But when it is told always, the players never got such sort of wicket. Swapan said this year it won’t be happened since they started working to prepare such sort of wicket much before.
Four venues-Rajshahi, Bogra, Sylhet and Khulna will host the NCL matches, tournament in which BCB inducted Two-Tier system in the last year. Rangpur, the team finished bottom in Tier-1 relegated to Tier-2 while Barisal, finished top in Tier-2 was promoted to Tier-1.
“We have talked about how we can get a bouncy wicket. The preparation to make a bouncy wicket in the venue outside Dhaka started much before. We are hopeful that this year you will see bouncy wicket here,” Swapan said.
He also informed that Walton will be the title sponsor of the tournament for the coming three months while the match fee this year is increased.
The players who will be the part of ODI squad during the series against Afghanistan and England were axed from the squad of their respective divisions who will take part in the National Cricket League (NCL), starting from September 25.
The squad of the eight teams — seven divisions and Dhaka Metro — has already been finalized, said chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu. According to him, the BCB will announce the squad within a couple of days.
