Elimination of militancy, terrorism stressed

FARIDPUR: The newly appointed Deputy Commissioner(DC) of the district Umme Salma Tanzia in a meeting yesterday said 'I like to be criticized' for the sake of development and well being of the people of this district, reports BSS.
In her address to the local journalists at her conference room the DC said 'My office is always ready to solve the problems of the pressmen in collecting news, news related matters'. She assured that she would give necessary instructions to the concerned sections of her office to help pressmen for collecting information.
Paying glowing tributes to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, she called upon the journalists to extend their helping hands to materialize the unfinished dreams of the great leader.
Umme Salma Tanzia, the first female DC of this district, 155th DC since British days, put emphasis on the advancement of digitization program as this district is lagging behind in comparison with other districts of the country.
She said that as she had worked a good period in A2I project, she wants to work for the expansion and popularize ICT involving more people to help successful implementation of 'Digital Bangladesh' of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
She also offered A2I training to the intending journalists for gaining more professional excellence.
She stressed elimination of militancy and terrorism along with the curse of drug abuse from this district and sought cooperation of the journalists in this regard.
She emphatically told the meeting 'I have come to serve the people, not to rule them' and she hoped that the journalists will come forward to cooperate with her.
The view exchange meeting was moderated by ADC (Gen) Dr ANM Abdus Sabur, Senior journalists Jagadish Chandra Ghose.
