RANGPUR: Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu said use of information and communication technologies (ICT) has been accelerating national development in building a digital Bangladesh, reports BSS.
“Bangladesh would become a middle income nation by 2021, and a developed country by 2041,” Jhantu said while ceremonially declaring Rangpur City Corporation decision to provide free WiFi internet facilities to the city’s seven educational institutions on Sunday.
“Around one lakh students of these institutions would have access to hi speed internet facilities to send mails, talk over internet, download eBooks, make video calls, know results, search jobs, send application and many other services free of costs,” he said.
Jhantu mentioned that the city corporation had been successfully providing digitalised services in the fields of tax managements, transportation, health, downloading forms, exchanging information, birth registration certificates and other sectors to the common citizens.
