Country’s largest digital expo - Digital World 2016 - will be held in the capital on October 19-21 showcasing the technology-based innovations and achievements and a single platform for sharing ICT knowledge and idea, reports BSS.
In this regard an advisory committee meeting led by Finance Minister AMA Muhith was held yesterday at finance ministry conference room in the capital, said a press release.
The meeting reviewed various sides of the exhibition and it was informed that the expo will highlight country’s progress achieved in the field of ICT in the last seven years and make a future plan for developing the sector.
Among others, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman, Railway Minister M Mujibul Haque, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak and ICT Secretary Shyam Sunder Sikder were present in the meeting.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the flagship annual event of the country’s ICT sector at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the city, Mohammad Enamul Kabir, Secretary of the Digital World-2016 Secretariat told BSS.
The ICT Division is organising the event with assistance of the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and A2I programme of the Prime Minister’s office.
Kabir said the event would be a major focus for the government decision makers in the ICT sector, chief executives and high profile technology persons and thousands of viewers.
Like previous years, the exposition would be based on the major targets of showcasing achievements of Bangladesh in ICT and offering a single platform for free-flow of ICT related ideas which would guide the country toward achieving Vision 2021, he said.
Kabir, also Director (Training) of the Digital World, said the three-day mega event would include seminars, IT career fair, soft expo, e-Governance expo, mobile innovation expo, e-commerce and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) programme.
Over 3,00,000 visitors including corporate, institutional and individual buyers are expected during the event, he added.
Around 400 local and foreign exhibitors including policymakers and senior government officials, industry leaders, civil society spokespersons, investors and multinational software vendors would participate in the event, Kabir added.
