RUET to launch advance ICT course
RAJSHAHI: The Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) is going to launch advance level course on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in order to make its teachers, officers and employees skilled on the subject.
RUET Vice- chancellor Prof Rafiqul Alam Beg revealed this while addressing the closing and certificate-giving ceremony of a computer networking training course yesterday as the chief guest. RUET's Central Computer Centre and Planning and Development Branch jointly organisd the course with financial support from Education and Research Project of Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC). Some 32 officers and employees of the university took part in the course of third and fourth batches held at central computer centre. Highlighting enormous aspects of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Prof Rafique Beg viewed more generation of skilled manpower in computer networking is very vital. He mentioned that competent people with ICT knowledge and its application can turn manpower into skilled workforce which will ultimately benefit the country.
There is no alternative to adopting modern technology to take the existing socio-economic condition forward in this competitive world.
With Professor Abdul Alim, director of Planning and Development Branch, in the chair, director of Institute of Information and Communication Engineering Professor Shahid Uz Zaman and director-in-charge of Central Computer Centre Dr Bashir Ahmed spoke as special guests. VC Professor Rafique Beg said the present government is working relentlessly for reaching IT services at the doorsteps of the people for building Digital Bangladesh.
As part of its endeavor, introduction of e-governance, a powerful tool, is important for bringing about changes in the government processes. The anticipated benefits of e-governance include efficiency, improved services, better accessibility of public services, and more transparency and accountability, he added.

CU, CUET, CVASU classes resume 
CHITTAGONG: The classes and academic activities of Chittagong University (CU), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) and Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Science University (CVASU) resumed on Sunday after the vacation on the occasion of Eid-ul Azha.
Residential students of the universities have already started returning to their dormitories. CU deputy registrar (information and photography) Farhad Hossain Khan, CUET assistant registrar Fazlur Rahman and CUET deputy director (public relation and protocol) Khalilur Rahman confirmed this.
CU went into vacation on August 31, CUET on September 7 and CVASU on September 5 on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha.
