BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday warned the government that it will face the same fate of noted filmmaker Satyajit Ray’s imaginary tyrant king ‘Hirak Raja’ for its ‘unbridled corruption, mismanagement and misrule’, reports UNB.
“This regime will meet the same fate of Hirak Raja for widespread corruption, misrule and repression…when people will pull the string, it’ll fall apart…,” she said.
Khaleda came up with the remarks while speaking at an iftar party arranged by 20-party’s component Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) at Bashundhara International Convention Centre in the city.
Mentioning that the country is passing through a critical juncture due to misrule by the Awami League-led government, she said people have woken up and they will put up a strong resistance against it.
Pointing at former minister Abdul Latif Siddique, she said a ruling party leader went into hiding in fear of public wrath after getting released on bail in the cases filed against him for making indecent remarks against religion.
“All of overenthusiastic people of this regime will have to go into hiding, but people will find them out wherever they hide…they won’t get any escape route.”
The BNP chief called upon the devoted Muslims to pray to Allah in this holy month of Ramadan so that He saves the country from the grasp of this repressive regime.
She alleged that the ruling party men are indulging in killing, extortion, plundering and grabbing public property. “But there’s no action against them, while opposition leaders and activists are being implicated in false cases. The ruling party criminals are on the prowl, but the opposition men are being arrested from jail gate after their release.”
