2 killed in Mymensingh road crash

Two people were killed and another injured as a private car overturned on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Meherabari area in Bhaluka upazila yesterday noon. The deceased were identified as Ali, 38 and Palash, 35, hailed from Lalbagh area in the capital. Hazrat Ali, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station, said the private car overturned on the highway around 12: 30pm as the driver lost control over the steering, leaving a man dead on the spot and two others critically injured.
One of the injured succumbed to his injures at Bhaluka upazila health complex while another injured man- Raju- was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Missing youth found dead
Pirojpur|: A young man, who went missing while taking bath in a canal in Mallikbari Bus Stand area of Sadar upazila on Wednesday, was found dead yesterday, reports UNB.
Locals said Raju Khan, son of Jahangir Khan of Khamkata area in Pirojpur municipality area, along with his cousin went to the Parerhat cannel for taking bath on Wednesday afternoon.
Later Raju went missing after he dipped into the cannel.
On information, divers from the local fire station came in and conducted a rescue operation.
Later yesterday morning, locals recovered floating body of Raju around 11 am.
Butted by sacrificial cattle, man dies
Cox’s Baza: A man died after being hit by a sacrificial cattle during its slaughter at Nonachhari Paschimpara in Maheshkhali Island on the day of Eid-ul-Azha on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Locals said Jafar Alam, 43, a resident of the village, received a hit from the horns of the cattle in its attempt to free itself while being slaughtered in the morning of Eid-ul-Azha and was critically injured.
Later Jafar was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where he died in the evening.
Fish trader killed in road crash
PIROJPUR: A fish trader was killed as a truck hit his motorbike in Majherpul area on the Pirojpur-Pathorghata road under Mothbaria upazila of the district early yesterday morning, reports BSS.
The deceased was identified as Dilip Boiragi, 50, son of Mritunjai Boiragi, a resident of Jujkhola area in Sadar upazila. Officer-in-charge of Mothbaria Thana Mustafijzur Rahman said the accident occurred when a Pathorghata-bound truck hit Dilip’s motorbike in the area, leaving him dead on the spot.
Tourists gather at Mujibnagar
MEHERPUR: To see the Mujibnagar Memorial Monument, a large number of tourists thronged Mujibnagar formerly known as Baidyanathtala in Meherpur where the Provisional Government of Bangladesh was formed on 17 April 1971, reports BSS.
Local people are visiting the site on the Eid vacation along with tourists from other parts of the country.
On the occasion Meherpur Police stepped up security on Mujibnagar-Meherpur Road.
Youth crushed under train
LALMONIRHAT: A young man was crushed under the wheels of a train when he was listening to music through earphones of his mobile on Tuesday night in Kaliganj Upazila of the district, reports BSS.
The deceased was identified as Shariful Islam, 18, hailed from Hazarania of the Upazila.
Family sources said they recovered his body early in the morning yesterday. They also said that Shariful had gone to the rail line area at night on Eid day after taking dinner. He was listening to music through earphones sitting on the rail line and at a stage the accident occurred. .
Chairman of Madati Union confirmed the incident. A case was filed with police station concerned in this
connection.
