Abul Kalam
Former president of Narail district unit of Bangladesh Awami League and a valiant freedom fighter Advocate Abul Kalam Azad died of brain hemorrhage yesterday morning at his son’s residence at Jessore, reports BSS.
He was 84.
Azad is survived by wife, a son and three daughters.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock at the death of Abul Kalam.
In a message of condolence, the prime minister recalled the contribution of Abul Kalam to the country’s politics and War of Liberation and said Awami League has lost a dedicated worker in his death.
He was former president of Narail District Lawyers’ Association and also involved with different social organizations.
Narail district Awami League incumbent president and Zila Parishad Administrator Advocate Subash Chandra Bose and General Secretary Nizam Uddin Khan Nilu expressed profound shock at the death of Azad.
They prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Hosneara Siddique
Hosneara Siddique, mother of Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, passed away at a hospital in the capital on Monday night, reports BSS.
She was 80.
She breathed her last at around 11pm on Monday at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, DU Public Relations Office acting director Dr Nur-e-Islam said.
Hosneara is survived by four sons and a daughter.
Her body has been kept at the BSMMU morgue. Her burial plan will be made after return of one of her sons and only daughter from abroad. She will be buried at Azimpur graveyard here.
Shamsul Huda
Shamsul Huda, elder brother of Masud Karim, former president of Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB), died at a city hospital on Tuesday night, reports UNB.
He was 65.
He breathed his last at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Masud Karim, diplomatic correspondent of the Daily Jugantor. Shamsul Huda is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.
He was buried at his family graveyard at Kadamdeuli in Barohatta upazila of Netrakona around 11 am following a namaz-e-janaza.
