The World Ozone Day will be celebrated in the country today under the global theme ‘Ozone and climate: Restored by a world united’, reports BSS. The theme recognises the collective efforts of the parties to the Vienna Convention and the Montreal Protocol towards the restoration of the ozone layer over the past three decades and the global commitment to combat climate change. President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages wishing success of the day. Environment and Forests Minister Anwar Hossain Manju also gave a message on the occasion.
In the messages, the president, the prime minister and the environment minister urged all to take concerted efforts to help protect ozone layer to save environment.
Marking the day, the national dailies will bring out special supplement. The environment and forests ministry will organise a discussion on September 29 at the Ban Bhaban at 3:30pm, according to an official release.
