‘Robber’ killed in ‘gunfight’ with cop

An alleged robber was killed in a gunfight with police in Sadirchar area of Kishoreganj district early yesterday, said police. The deceased was identified as Fudur Ali Ripan, 30, son of late Murshid Mia of Dorighagtia village in Bazitpur. Makbul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bazitpur Police Station said Fudur Ali was arrested from Narsindi Wednesday evening. Based on his information, police went to Sadirchar area under Gazirchar union Thursday early hour at around 3:30am to recover arms, But his accomplices opened fire on police when the team reached the spot.
A gunfight took place as police shot back in defence. Fudur got shot during the exchange and died on the spot. Police seized two pistols, two guns and one revolver. Fudur was accused in at least 15 cases including five murder cases in different police station, the OC said. The body was sent to Kishoreganj sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
