Bangladesh former skipper Khaled Mahmud Sujan will continue his job as the Tigers’ team manager for the upcoming home series against the top-ranked South Africa.
He will get all the facilities that he has been enjoying since he took the charge of the Bangladesh team.
Naimur Rahman Durjoy, chairman of the cricket operation committee of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), revealed this to media after holding a meeting at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Media committee chairman Jalal Younus, tournament committee chairman Akram Khan, game development committee chairman Khaled Mahmud Sujan, CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury Shujan, head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, ODI skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim, vice-captains Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal were also present in the meeting.
“We have discussed the process on how we can appoint a new team manager for the team. We are considering those, who have showed their keen interest to be team manager for the Tigers, will have left their existing jobs to take the job on long-term basis. Actually we are in a processing level. For this, we need, of course, some more times as Sujan bhai is continuing. So, we don’t think much about it for the time being,” Durjoy, who led Bangladesh in the maiden Test against India in 2000, also said.
They have discussed about their future tour plans for the national team, the new domestic calendar, selectors alongside the finalisation of the Bangladesh-A team’s tours.
“Selectors will also continue in the series. If any new thing arises within this period then we will finalise the matter in the next board meeting,” Durjoy told media about selectors, whose two-year tenure completed on Tuesday.
“We had team management, skippers and vice-captains of the three formats with us. So, we discussed about the current home series,” Naimur Rahman, who is a director of the BCB, stated.
About the new calendar, the cricket operation chairman said, “The calendar for the domestic competition is almost completed. But there are some differences with some schedules of the Game Development. Some of our domestic players perform in the national cricket league and premier division along side we have Under-19 World Cup. So, we need some more times to finalise the calendar.”
