Detectives arrested eight suspected robbers and recovered 135 stolen mobile phone sets from Postagola area on Tuesday night, reports UNB.
Being tipped off that a gang of robbers were holding a meeting to commit robbery, a special DB team, led by its Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mahmud Naser Jonny, conducted a drive near RK Chowghury School of Postagola area at about 11:45 pm.
The detectives arrested eight alleged dacoits--Md Jalal, Yusuf Hawlader, Bachhu Sarder, Md Quddus, Md Nekbar Miah, Md Kamruzzaman, Md Shawpan and Md Kamal Sheikh. They also recovered chapati, knife, cutter and other instruments used for committing dacoity.
Briefing reporters at DMP Media centre on Wednesday, Joint Commissioner (DB) Monirul Islam said during interrogation, the arrested robbers revealed that they are members of an organised gang and involved in looting valuables, including mobile sets, battery, tyre, tube, mobile, rod , cement and garments accessories after breaking shutters and as well as cutting locks of shops in Dhaka and its adjoining districts.
