GAIBANDHA: The police administration here has adopted special measures across the district to keep the law and order fully normal during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Muslims, reports BSS. Under the initiatives, over 800 police and 200 members of community policing have been engaged in duties to prevent any kind of criminal activities in the district.
In order to check criminal activities of muggers, the district police have adopted special and tight security measures for the town dwellers, businessmen and passengers and it would continue for seven days after Eid-ul-Azha.
More than 20 additional check posts have been set up at different important points of the district and 750 police personnel including 200 members of community policing have been kept on duty here for the security of the people, said Additional Police Super Faruk Hossain.
Pragmatic initiatives have also been taken for traffic management so that the people do not suffer due to traffic jam on the roads of the district and upazila towns, said Raihan Ibn Rahman, inspector of traffic.Police patrolling has also been intensified on the highway stretching from Chapriganj under Gobindaganj upazila to Dhaperhat under Sadullapur upazila in the district to prevent highway robbery and other criminal offenses, said Fuhad Ruhany, officer -in- charge of Gobindaganj highway police.
