Bangladesh has expressed deep concern over the nuclear test carried out by North Korea and called upon the Pyongyang to exercise retrain. “Bangladesh is deeply concerned with the recent nuclear test conducted by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). This is in violation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions nos. 1718, 1874, 2087 and 2094 and the non-proliferation regimes,” said a press statement issued by the Foreign Ministry yesterday. “As a state party to the CTBT and the NPT, Bangladesh is committed to nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament and believes that the nuclear test carried out by the DPRK contravenes the interest of peace, stability and security of the region and beyond,” it said. “Bangladesh calls upon the Government of DPRK to exercise restraint and refrain from any further action which may contribute to the escalation of the already heightened security situation in the region and find ways to de-escalate tension,” it added.
