BAU passes Tk 170.05cr budget
MYMENSINGH: The syndicate of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on Monday approved a budget of Tk 170.05 crore for the fiscal year of 2015-16.
The syndicate in its 306th meeting, chaired by BAU Vice-Chancellor Md Ali Akbar, passed the budget recommended by the finance committee of the university which is Tk 13.15 crore greater than the previous fiscal year, said a press release.
According to the budget, the university will earn Tk 7.50 crore from its own sources for the fiscal year 2015-16 while the rest will come from the University Grants Commission (UGC). Of the total, Tk 12.50 crore was allocated for educational and research purposes.
Dean of Agricultural Engineering and Technology faculty Abdur Rashid, dean of Fisheries faculty Md Iddris Miah, member of the planning commission Shamsul Alam, former director general of Bangladesh Fish Research Institute Suvas Chandra Chakkrabarti, were present, among others.
IU gets new registrar
KUSHTIA: The authority of Islamic University (IU) on Tuesday appointed SM Abdul Latif of Council section as its new registrar (In-charge) of the university.
Vice-Chancellor’s Personal Secretary Mir Zillur Rahman confirmed the matter.
According to the sources, Vice-Chancellor Abdul Hakim Sarker appointed him to this post. Abdul Latif replaced the outgoing registrar M Moslem Uddin. He will remain in the post until further notice.
NSU gets best private varsity award
Bishwabiddyalay Parikrama, a university news media, organised a discussion on ‘earthquake risk in Bangladesh’ and award giving ceremony on the occasion of its 24th founding ceremony at a hotel, Dhaka on Sunday, says a press release.
In the programme, North South University (NSU) has been awarded as the best private university in the country for its successful development initiatives, maximum media coverage for the year 2014-15. Amin Sarkar, vice-chancellor of NSU, received the award on behalf of the university. Belal Ahmed, deputy director, PR of the same university, was awarded as best PR personal of the year 2014-15. Among others, special award was given to Magistrate Rokon-Ud-Doula for his outstanding contribution to the drive against food adulteration.
Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain was the chief guest and Abdus Sobhan, special assistant to the Prime Minister; Sunil Kanti Boss, chairman, BTRC; Jainal Abedin Bhuiyan, chairman, RAJUK , were the special guests.
Information session held at EU
Eastern University (EU) Career Services and International Office (CSIO) organised information session titled ‘Recruitment Talk: Dundee Business School, Abertay University, Scotland, UK’ at EU seminar hall on Monday, says a press release.
Nazrul Islam, senior lecturer in innovation management, Dundee Business School, University of Abertay Dundee, UK conducted the session.
