CHITTAGONG: Police in separate drives arrested 14 people along with yaba tablets, liquor and heroin from different parts of the city yesterday.
In a drive Bakalia police arrested Md Anwar Hossain, 24, along with 1,900 yaba tablets from Shah Amanat Bridge area early yesterday.
Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Bakalia police station, said acting on a tip-off, police searched a bas of ‘Unique Paribahan’ coming from Teknaf and seized the yaba tablets.
In separate drives at different parts of the city, led by SM Tanvir Arafat, additional deputy police commissioner (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), and Kamrauzzaman, assistant police commissioner of CMP, arrested 13 people along with 935 yaba tablets, 330 liters of liquor and heroin.
The arrestees were identified as Imam Hossain, Amir Hossain, Tapan Chandra, Chand Mia, Jane Alam, Al Amin, and Saiful Islam.
Separate cases were lodged in these connections with the respective police stations.
