After playing havoc over the last few days, an active monsoon is likely to bounce back, triggering rain during the next 48 hours beginning at 6:00pm today. It may slow down gradually after July 6-7, the meteorological department said in its forecast yesterday.
Heavy rain since the past week caused flash floods in the country’s south-east in Bandarban and Cox’s Bazar. At least 17 people perished under fallen trees, drowning and in mudslides, with boulders and debris falling on straw huts below.
Rain may affect the first T-20 cricket match between South Africa and Bangladesh on July 5.
