It’s a special day for Sabina Yasmin today

Today is the birthday of Sabina Yasmin, a living music legend of the subcontinent. To make sure the birthday of the glittering star in the sky of the country’s music world should not be spent silently, Channel i has taken special initiative to celebrate it in a grand manner. DhakaLive has news that Sabina Yasmin will take part in the Channel i’s show ‘Taroka Kathan’ today at 12:30pm. Not only this that Sabina Yasmin’s presence makes the show special, but also a group of underprivileged children from a non-profitable organisation, Distressed Children and Infants International (DCII), will participate along with the celebrated singer in the programme. Sabina Yasmin has been working with DCII as a goodwill ambassador for last three years.
On the occasion of Sabina Yasmin’s birthday, the underprivileged children will greet her with flowers and will also sing, dance and draw pictures to make the legend’s birthday special. Besides, Sabina Yasmin will take part in the telephone conversation with her favourite people in the programme. The entire programme will be telecast live on Channel i from the house of Sabina Yasmin.
Sabina Yasmin said about her birthday, “The birthday is always a loveable subject to me. But when it reminds me my age is increasing that makes me feel bad. Even then, I am still in good health and fine—for this unique gift, I express my gratitude to Allah. May Almighty keep us all  in good health and well. Everyone, please pray for me.”
Back in 2007, Sabina Yasmin had fallen severely ill. But with the prayers and love of the people of Bangladesh, she returned to everyone after a quick recovery.
Sabina Yasmin as a child artiste sang for the first time in the Ehtesham-directed film ‘Natun Sur’ in 1962. Late legendary composer and music director Robin Ghosh directed the music of the film. On the other hand, she made her playback debut with the song ‘Modhu Jyotsna Dipali’ in the film ‘Agun Niye Khela’, directed by Amzad Hossain and Nurul Haque Bacchu, in 1967.
Including Ekushey Award in 1984 and Independence Award in 1996, legendary Sabina Yasmin won the National Film Award 13 times till now. She won her first National Film Award for the film ‘Sujon Sokhi’ directed by Khan Ataur Rahman in 1975.
In her long music career, Sabina Yasmin has sung 16000 songs. l
