DU anti-militancy discussion today
Dhaka University (DU) will stage an anti-militancy discussion on Saturday as part of the ongoing countrywide consciousness raising campaign against the menace.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will join the discussion as chief guest at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium of the university at 11am with DU Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique in the chair. Education Secretary Md Sohorab Hossain will be present as special guest.
RUET celebrates 13th founding anniv
RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) has observed University Day on Thursday amid joy, enthusiasm and fanfare marking its 13th founding anniversary.
The days programme began with the hoisting of national flag followed by plantation of tree saplings in the morning. Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university Prof Rafiqul Alam Beg opened the daylong programmes.
Marking the day, a large number of teachers, students and staff brought out a colourful procession that paraded through the campus. A discussion was also held at the Central auditorium. The other programmes included live concert, inter-department debate competition, friendly cricket match, exhibition of projects innovated by the students.
In the afternoon, the VC distributed prizes among the winners of the competitions following a cultural function.
MUN conference begins at ASAUB
A three-day conference titled ASA University Bangladesh Model United Nations Conference began at ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB) on Thursday, says a press release.
This conference is a shadow United Nations (UN) conference. The main theme of this conference is Achieving gender equality through empowerment of all women.
Railway Minister Mujibul Haque was the chief guest while Advocate Fazilatunnesa Bappy, MP was the special guest in the inaugural session of the conference.
Prof Dalem Ch Barman, vice-chancellor of ASA University Bangladesh, presided over the programme. The conference will be closed with prize giving ceremony and colorful cultural programme today. ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB) in collaboration with House of Youth Dialogue (HYD), a social organization, has organised the conference.
Orientation programme held at NU
GAZIPUR: An orientation programme for the students of On-campus post graduate diploma in Library and Information science
was held at the National University in Gazipur on Thursday. Head of the library and information science department of the university Mohammed Nasir Uddin prsided over the programme while vice-chancellor of the university Harun Or Rashid was the chief guest.
However, this is the first batch of post graduate diploma in Library and Information science programme that started at the Gazipur campus of National University. Total 100 students got chance for admission through online admission process.
Science festival begins
The two-day Science Festival-2016 began yesterday at Shahid Bir Uttam Lt. Anwar Girls College in Dhaka Cantonment.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Advocate Mostafizur Rahman inaugurated it as chief guest, said a release. The co-education programme like the science festival is very much important for proper mental growth of students, the minister said adding that such kind of programme should to be continued for their betterment.
It was addressed, among others, by chief patron of the college and Acting Logistics Area Commander Brig. Gen. M Nurul Momen Khan and Principal of the college Col. M Rashidul Islam Khan. A total of 25 educational institutes participated in it.
