Detectives in their separate drives arrested 10 alleged members of fake currency rackets along Tk 1.16 crore counterfeit notes from different parts of the city on Wednesday and Thursday, reports UNB.
The arrestees are Rezaul Islam Munna, 26, Abdul Quader Apu, 28, Md Latif, 25, Fazar Ali, 29, Moharam Miah, 38, Sumi Begum, 20, Abdul Barek, 25, Saddam, 23, Alam Miah, 28, and Md Alamgir, 30.
Tipped off, a special team of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police launched a drive at Paltan and arrested ringleader Rezaul and his cohorts Apu and Latif.
Following their statement, the DB team arrested Fazar Ali, Moharam Miah, Sumi Begum, Abdul Barek and Saddam from Dighirpar adjacent to Mohanagar Nattya Manch.
Based on the information gleaned from them, the detectives recovered fake currency worth Tk 52 lakh and currency-making equipment from a house at Kailash Ghose Lane.
